On 31 August 2025, Nepal proudly hosted its very first SCA Coffee Cupping Workshop at the Nepal Coffee Academy (www.nca.coffee), led by coffee expert Dr. Raj Kumar Banjara (www.rajkumar.coffee). This landmark event brought together coffee enthusiasts, baristas, and professionals from across the country to explore the art and science of coffee cupping at the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) standards.

Participants engaged in hands-on sessions, learning to identify aromas, flavors, acidity, body, and aftertaste in coffee, while understanding the key principles of professional coffee evaluation. Through guided tasting exercises, attendees developed their sensory skills and discovered how cupping helps improve coffee quality from farm to cup.

The workshop also emphasized the importance of Nepalese specialty coffee in the global market, inspiring participants to elevate their coffee practices and embrace international standards. The interactive sessions, lively discussions, and expert insights made this a truly enriching experience for everyone involved.
